I am 5ft 4 (163cm) and was approximately a UK size 12 when I originally purchased the dress. The gown is labelled a BERTA size 44, however BERTA bridal sizing does not directly correspond with standard UK high-street sizing.
My measurements at the time of purchase were approximately 37″ above bust, 30.5″ under bust and 38″ hips. The dress was then professionally altered to fit me at around a UK size 10.
The alterations were done very carefully, and the seamstress deliberately left additional fabric in the seams, meaning the dress can be let back out by approximately 1–2 sizes if required. I also had additional padding added around the bust for extra shape and support, which can easily be removed by an alterations specialist if preferred.
This is a genuine BERTA Privée gown, purchased from Knutsford Wedding Gallery. It has been professionally dry cleaned by a specialist bridal company at a cost of £500, so it is in pristine condition and ready for its next bride.
I would recommend comparing your measurements with the dress rather than relying solely on the BERTA label size, as bridal sizing can differ significantly from standard UK sizing.
